Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

Indeed, time and patience are key elements. I understand that it's not always easy to keep this things in mind. I wish that I could practice what I preach more often.

Great post. I forget to do this a lot, but I try to understand the other person before trying to get my point across. It seems to help most of the time. You can't assume that other people share your fund of knowledge, experience or current frame of reference. It takes time and patience.

I completely understand. I taught middle school teens and pre-teens for years and this type of thought process consistently eludes them. I have to really work hard to facilitate a meaning discussion to help them resolve their own conflicts. Although, with a bit of training, these young people can learn to facilitate these discussions on their own. It's really a joy to see.

Very good advice! It seems I already do these things, but other people I know need to learn these things, like my teenage son!

Very good tips for carrying on a meaningful, worthwhile conversation. Stupers (short, as you know, for tirelessly stupid persons) are unable to utilize your suggestions. Your self-reflection clearly reveals that you are an active thinker.
PS And thanks very much for the mention!
